So far this week...

I've watched more M3, Baby Steps and Daiya no A.  I'm really enjoying M3 - it's dark, well produced, and after the pretty slow first episode it's been moving along at a good pace.  Is it great anime? No: there are still some very stilted elements, like the immoral scientist, his empathetic assistant, and the Firm.  Of all the characters, I really haven't gotten that attached yet to the main guy.  I like Emiru the most: she is fighting to improve herself and get what she wants. I don't approve of her methods always, but I like her guts.

Baby Steps continues to weave its spell. Finally I'm interested in tennis, and feel like I might want to play. Mind you, this is after two years spent living with the Irish Ladies tennis captain at the time, who had played Wimbledon in her younger days. Maybe it's because I need to understand how something works to really get into it or be able to do it, so Ei-chan's notes are exactly what I need.

Anyway, Ei-chan is developing as a player. He is using the knowledge he has gained from his observations not just to improve his own game, but to beat his opponent's game. He is more willing to take risks too.  This match against Arya-kun is his first 3 set match and I think key to his development. Will he win? I don't think so. Will he decide to go Pro? I'm not sure, and I feel that we will be asked to accompany him on the journey to making that decision.

Daiya no A continues to concentrate on the team's journey rather than just on Sawamura. I really like that about this anime... How did I let myself get 3 episodes behind on the simulcast? Maybe cos the next arc is the one I'm really looking forward to...
